DANSE SANS FRONTIÈRE

Danse sans Frontière seeks to valorize cultural heritage, nurture artistic exchange, and create opportunities for research, creation, preservation, and documentation, bridging distant worlds through the universal language of dance.

Initiated by JC movement production – Jill Crovisier after her creation TOAA, a piece created with the performer Serge Daniel Kaboré from Burkina Faso, residing in Luxembourg and working with JC movement production since 2022,  Danse sans Frontière is a project fostering exchange, dialogue, and connection through contemporary dance between Luxembourg and another country. The title symbolizes not only geographical borders but also the interplay between cultural heritage, traditional dance, and contemporary movement practices. The project’s first edition took place in Burkina Faso in 2024, engaging 10 professional dancers in collaboration with Serge Danièl Kaboré. The residency and public presentation took place in Ouagadougou at the Theatre du Soleil. In its second edition in Thailand, Jill Crovisier worked closely with students at the Bunditpatanasilpa Institute over 3.5 weeks, alongside collaborator Benjamin Tardif, a Canadian artist deeply embedded in Thai culture. Together, they explored the links between contemporary and traditional dance, offering a platform for artistic dialogue and mutual learning. The residency took place at the Bunditpatansilpa Institute with a end of residency showing on the campus. Workshops and a public end of project presentation is programmed at HostBKK, partner on the project in Thailand.
